SheROX Triathlon Announces National Expansion

Mentor Program a Big Hit with Athletes The SheROX Philadelphia Triathlon was one of the most popular first year events on the calendar in 2007. After its successful debut, and the continued momentum and growth of the women’s market in the sport, organizers are expanding the popular sprint event into a national series. The SheROX Triathlon Series will host three events in the U.S. in 2008 - SheROX Tempe (May 10), SheROX Philadelphia (August 3) and SheROX Charlotte (September 14). The Philadelphia race is offering $4,999 in prize money for top elite and age-group athletes, one of the few all-women races to do so.

Produced by the organizers of the popular Philadelphia Insurance Triathlon, the SheROX Triathlon Series is a high-quality, well-run event for women triathletes of all levels. What differentiates the SheROX Series is its focus on first-timers through the exclusive SheROX Mentor Program.

“The SheROX Mentor Program is what really sets us apart from other women triathlon series,” said Barb McKeever, race director. “Our mentors help introduce women to the multi-sport lifestyle and create a network of female triathletes who share the common bond of participation in a premier athletic event.”

The complimentary SheROX Mentor Program pairs participants with an experienced and enthusiastic female triathlete who is passionate about the sport. Mentors provide one-on-one support to help women feel comfortable about what to expect during training and on race day.

“Our mentors are seasoned triathletes who are there to answer all of your individual questions about competing in your first SheROX triathlon,” said Erin Savarese, head mentor, SheROX Triathlon Series. “Mentors serve as a resource, motivator and guide to help you have a positive event experience from the time you start training until you cross the finish line on race day.”

Mentors are available to answer questions via e-mail and will proactively send regular tips and suggestions to address individual needs and concerns. Mentors may also organize group workouts, informational meetings and/or social get-togethers. Each registered participant also receives a bi-weekly e-newsletter with event news and upcoming group training events.

With the women’s market booming as the fastest growing segment in the sport, the SheROX Triathlon Series has found a formula that works. With 45 mentors in Philly and more on the way in Tempe and Charlotte, the SheROX Series is a great event for women looking to get started in the sport. “We have a great program in place to help get you started,” added Savarese, “All you need is the desire.”
